![]() The sK1 Project is actually a suite of tools. There is support for Brahmic scripts, Hebrew, Thai, Arabic, and more, all powered by the Pango Library for text rendering. In addition, sK1 supports multi language rendering, which is perfect for creating bilingual flyers or presentations. Support for the CMYK color model is important, as it means that graphics you create using sK1 are ready for printing on flyers or press releases. SK1 isn’t only available for Linux there are versions for Windows and MAC devices as well, making it a viable cross platform alternative to Adobe Illustrator. He was a strong supporter of open source software, and his legacy lives on in the sK1 Project. Unfortunately, Ihor Novikov passed away due to Covid-19 in March 2021. sK1 2.0 is actually a fork of Skencil and based on the Skencil project its goal was to improve the original Skencil project in many ways, including by providing better support for things like CorelDRAW file format imports. The sK1 Project was founded in 2003 by Ihor Novikov and his team, who were based in Ukraine. All information about the tool, including links to the repository, is available on the website. You can import and export files in different formats for use in Adobe Illustrator and other tools. However, it is only available on Linux and UNIX compatible devices. Skencil’s advantage is that it is almost entirely implemented in Python.
